Job Description

We are looking for a mid or senior level Java developer colleague who could help our company in one of our most prestigious, international product development.

We work under the umbrella of Blackhawk Network and are responsible for developing and maintaining the systems from top to toe for some of the biggest players in their field:

• BT EE (employee engagement)
• O2 Rewards (loyalty)
• Tesco Mobile (telecommunication, core business system)
• Whitbread (loyalty)

The development team is based in Budapest Hungary, the business side is located in the United Kingdom. The development team's language is Hungarian, the whole team uses English.

We are looking for someone who likes to work in a stable workplace and prefers long term product development in Java. We expect good communication skills in English and Hungarian, a positive attitude, along with a high level of commitment and responsibility, to be agile and dedicated to high quality work.

The candidate should have at least 3 years of proven Java development experience.

Requirements

Education

• BSc /MSc degree in Computer Science, Information Engineering or a related subject or equivalent experience

Experiences

• 3+ years of experience as Java Developer
• Experience in Java based client-server application development

Knowledge/Skills

• Solid Java coding skills
• Solid Object-Oriented programming skills
• Good SQL knowledge
• Basic CI/CD knowledge
• Liferay knowledge is an added advantage

Soft skills

• Good written & verbal communication skills (English, Hungarian)
• Great team player
• Constructive attitude
• Problem solving attitude
• Enthusiasm to programming, scripting
• High awareness of quality

Project technology stack

Development:

• Core language: Java SE (currently 11, planning transition to 17)
• Interfaces: REST, SOAP
• User interface: Liferay Portal
• Telecommunication: SMS through SMPP/REST, IVR driven by BPMN/DMN

Infrastructure:

• Local deployment on Windows with Docker
• On premise deployment on Linux, planning to move to AWS
• Build: Gradle, Bamboo
• Database: Microsoft SQL Server
